My Analysis Of The Theme Of This TextTheme: Is It Human Nature To Be Selfish And Destroy Things For Others, Or Help And Create Things For Others?
Analysis:
This book at first seems as if there is not much of a theme, you really have to look into what everything means in order to understand the moral of this story. the way this book is written it appears to be mostly mindless banter between the boys as they fight and try to figure out how they are going to survive. some of the boys are all about creating shelters and more permanent locations to live, while others are all about killing and slaughtering the others. now with these boys being so young there is not a whole lot of life experiences or other ideas playing into what they think, it is all human nature at play. the question the book is asking is are the boys going to end up running around like savages killing people or is it human nature to be more civilized and actually create something. the book then shows at the end that the boys begin to all act like savages and go around the island hunting down Ralph. it is human nature is to fight, kill and slaughter in order to survive. of course ponce the navel officer finds the boys they begin to wake up and ask themselves what they were doing and how they could let themselves do such terrible things. |
